Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Summer Bowl for Kids’ Sake Event Surpasses Fundraising Goal
Kansas City, Mo. — (August 1, 2024) — This week, Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City (BBBSKC) wrapped up their signature event, Summer Bowl for Kids’ Sake, presented by KCNSC (Kansas City National Security Campus), at Park Lanes in Shawnee, Kansas. The event attracted more than 2,080 participants and raised $777,511, surpassing the $750,000 goal.
Summer Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a 3-week fundraiser that helps defend potential for kids in Kansas City through the power of 1-1 mentorship. Summer Bowl for Kids’ Sake brings corporate and individual teams together to raise money for BBBSKC. Teams select a session and participate in a bowling party. Bowling parties were held July 10-26, 2024. Participants enjoy free pizza and drinks and are entered to win great prizes.
472 teams participated in the event this year. Some teams went above and beyond reaching “Super Team” status and raising more than $3,000. The top fundraising team of the event raised $16,227 and the top individual raised $13,145.
“We are blown away by the support of our volunteers, corporate partners and supporters who have helped us fundraise for Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City,” said BBBSKC CEO Micheal Lawrence. “The funds raised through Summer Bowl for Kids’ Sake will help us match hundreds of children with positive adult role models in life-changing friendships right here in Kansas City.”
Children who are matched with a “Big” report improved self esteem, better grades and better family relationships. There are more than 200 kids currently waiting to be matched with a Big Brother, Big Sister, or Big Couple.
